Guest Blog Post Guidelines
Thanks for your interest in writing a guest post for the blog for the discerning reader! Here are my guidelines:
- Write about either an intellectually great book of nonfiction or an artistically great book of fiction or poetry that was published within the last 10 years
- Submit your draft in Microsoft Word or Google Docs
- Approximately 300-1000 words
- No spoilers if the book is fiction
- You must include a quote from the book
- Focus on just one aspect/part of the book instead of trying to write about the whole thing
- Also send a bio of 1-4 sentences; you may include a link to your website and/or social media account(s)
- Also send 1-4 links for a free photo to go along with the blog post from Unsplash, Pixabay, or Pexels
To get a feel for the style of this blog, please view posts about books in the Book Previews and Guest Posts categories. I also recommend that you subscribe to the blog for the discerning reader and read it for a few weeks.
Submissions are accepted anytime. There is no deadline. I will get back to you within 2 weeks. If I don’t, feel free to inquire again.
Apologies, but this gig is unpaid. You will, however, get a writing credit out of the deal. (If you’re a blogger, you’ll also get a backlink. If our sites have a similar vibe, let’s talk about writing for each other.)
How To Submit
First, share which book you’d like to write about in the form. Feel free to suggest multiple books to ensure I accept at least one of them. I will email you back to share whether I approve of your suggested book(s). Then, write the piece and submit it to my email, along with your bio and image links—use the email address I emailed you from to approve your suggested book(s). I will email you back to let you know whether your submission is accepted.
