Hello, friends!

Well, well, well. . . . This is like Hello, World! all over again.

It’s been a while since I’ve written to you. But, no, this isn’t my first blog post.

However, . . . this lapse in posting is not mea culpa!

Exactly three months ago—on September 11th, believe it or not—something fell and hit me on the head! I was optimistic about a quick ’n’ easy return to normal life. This was because the emergency room personnel I saw were optimistic about this.

As it turns out, though, traumatic brain injuries are no joke, even the mild form of TBI known as a concussion. And what I learned from my concussion-specialist doctor is that some brain injuries heal as quickly as the ER personnel predicted for me (a week or so), and other brain injuries take years to heal, . . . and it’s impossible to predict the healing time based on how hard the head seemed to have gotten hit.

In my last blog post, I wrote that I would tell you more about the circumstances of the traumatic incident in question and its aftermath. I do intend to write about my experiences. But since this has not been an easy autumn (not to use the word fall) for me (the T in TBI has lived up to its promise), I will not be writing about any of this just yet.

But here’s the important thing:

I’m baaaaaaack!!!! Henceforward, let’s resume our regular schedule of blog posts about reading and thinking and wisdom and love and anxiety and the self. But do be lenient on me. There may be some lapses in the schedule, or short ’n’ sweet posts, as my brain continues to heal.

Not to worry: my doctor assures me that I will make a full recovery. He just doesn’t know how long this will take.

Thank you for sticking by me through this (insert the dreaded T-word here) time. Sending love to you all. And “see” you on Friday!
