The boss called the inquisitive one.
“Good morning,” said the boss. “I have important news to share with you. Starting in August, you will be required to come to the company office two days a week. One of those days must be Tuesday. You can choose the other day. You can also choose to come in more than two days a week. During the Covid pandemic, we all started working remotely 100 percent of the time. But now that the pandemic emergency has been declared officially over, the company feels that it is important for workers to be present in the same space for at least some of the workweek. On Tuesdays, we will have an all-company meeting where we will all be present. Do you have any questions?”
“Yes,” said the i.o., “I do have a question. . . . What’s a ‘company office’?”
Not meaning to sidetrack the message which I found clever. There’s a push to get people back to the office because there’s a real issues in how it’s impacting Capitalism. One example is the subway system, the metro is losing money, can’t make ends meet due to low ridership. DC restaurants can’t get employees, etc. These businesses all pay taxes from profits. Tie that in to how the GOP wants to reduce income tax. That strategy to gain power now looks vulnerable. But people are still spreading money, but where? It’s concentrated in online sales, potentially making mega billionares of Zuckerberg,,Bezos and not Koch. Just random musings
Thanks as always for your random musings š
I love it all. It sounds a bit like the messages coming out of my office. Thanks Liza. It was quite amusing.
You’re welcome and thanks!
